Hi
i want to calculate the J(cm4)(torsion constant) parameter for double IPE section , but i can't find any formula or method to calculate that . Can someone please help me to find articles or methods to calculate J for double IPE ?

OK, but how are the plates connected? It's the difference between 2 x J of individual members or a composite J by creating a closed section?

The plates are welded to flanges , J is for a closed section (2 IPE + 2plates),

can it be calculated by a formula??

If its intermittent welding, add all the J's together. There is no closed section formed with intermittent welding.

If continuous welding you can approximate the J by simple formulas for J by taking top and bottom of a box being the width between webs and thickness of the flange plate, and webs of the box as the webs of the beams. This thread should give you some ideas

If you want the 'true' answer, you'll have to resort to FEM analysis of the cross section. I talk about using the free python sectionproperties package for this here. Even if you don't know python it is fairly easy to get up and running with it.
