Flint Municipal Water - Part 3

Flint Municipal Water - Part 3

RE: Flint Municipal Water - Part 3

(OP)
There is an update:

Testing shows least amount of lead in Flint water since the water crisis

The 90% average of samples from 71 locations taken between Jan. 1 and June 30 easily meets criteria

Another update:

State prosecutors spent nearly $3.5 million to bring new Flint water cases

That total doesn’t include two top Wayne County prosecutors, who are paid by taxpayers there for work in Flint

How does that stack up compared to the rest of the world?

Rather than think climate change and the corona virus as science, think of it as the wrath of God. Feel any better?

RE: Flint Municipal Water - Part 3

Every waterworks in the country is required to produce an annual water quality report. Most are available on line. Here are some examples.
The DC water quality report is typical of reports provided by well run waterworks.
The Flint Mi water quality site seems to focus only on lead - in great detail. I do not find the extended data on their site (did I miss it?).

RE: Flint Municipal Water - Part 3

Our local water supply co. (North East UK) say that lead in water supply is primarily due to some old buildings still having lead piping in the supply to the building still in use. As they ensure the water has hardness, the lead compounds are insoluble.
Amazingly (or maybe not so) they have on their website a list of dissolved salts especially for brewers! Way to go!

Aye but the septics wouldn't have a clue what that is.

The Flint water issue is still in the news as the civil trials are now getting underway, and the courts have ruled that Rick Snyder, the former Michigan Governor, must testify. Note that he's indicated that he'll probably refuse to answer questions and invoke his 5th Amendment rights instead:

Wiped out? By my read, it was remanded for a preliminary examination (whatever that is). Maybe the case will continue.

RE: Flint Municipal Water - Part 3

Listening to WJR on Wednesday, the Grand Jury was just a one-man Grand Jury and the defendants don't know what evidence was used for the Indictment. This is a simple violation of the rights of the accused.

I had no idea that there is such a thing as a one-man Grand Jury. Michigan is weird. No-fault insurance and one-person Grand Juries (Juror?).

Right to see the government's evidence only applies to the actual trial.

In this instance they're only interested in politicians who know nothing of water beyond taste.

Jury Can't Reach Verdict In Engineers' Flint Water Trial

A judge has declared a mistrial in a dispute over partial liability for Flint, Michigan's lead-contaminated water.

RE: Flint Municipal Water - Part 3

Without knowing all of the facts, It is entirely possible one or both of the engineering firms advice was technically correct and the public officials refused to heed their advice.

This is the sort of trial that is hard on the jury. There defiantly were plenty of bad actors, and plenty of victims. The question in play was "are Veolia North America and Lockwood, Andrews & Newman among the bad actors?".
