The company has since apologized after one of its lobbyists talked about undermining climate action in an undercover video.

Video clips released show Keith McCoy, the oil giant’s senior director for federal relations, talking frankly about ExxonMobil’s lobbying strategies.
He talked about working with “shadow groups,” to weaken climate elements of US infrastructure plan.

I doubt anyone is shocked by this. At that level, it's his job to make promote his company and act in it's interest as a transnational elite, with no loyalty to any particular governing body. Predictably, these types of people will use any channel to influence issues in their favor and are all too common.

Big Oil has been undermining climate action in plain sight for decades now, through lobbying and political donations to all parties.
