copper blackening
copper blackening
(OP)
Hi,
I am trying to blacken a copper strip (will probably come in reels, which also makes this more difficult). I know this can be done by a number of different methods, but I need something that can keep surface electrical conductivity after blackening. This seems much more difficult to achieve.
Has anyone heard of Ebenol C or Ebonol C? these products can apparently do this, but I cannot find anyone to do a coating test for us!! I have managed to get some spec sheets from different chemical companies, but they don't seem to be able to connect me with anyone that uses such products!!
Any and all help will be appreciated.
Thanks
G

Copper will not anodize like aluminium will (at least as far as I know; perhaps Instagram hipsters have made a breakthrough there).
Haven't heard of Ebenol. Otherwise I don't know what to recommend, but I suspect a possible method might involve sulphur somehow.

I think You can also apply Phosphate treatments to copper alloys [paint base or standalone coating].
