Hi,

I have a question regarding the ASCE7-16 canopy wind pressure.

Why are there two charts? Fig 30-11.1a and 30-11.1b.

The Fig 30-11.1b provides the net GCp value for both positive and negative pressure. Cant we just design the canopy for these pressures? What is the intent of the Fig 30-11.1a?

Thanks

I'm thinking that 30.11-1A is for designing attachment for elements like roofing (upper surface) and ceiling panels (lower surface). While 30.11-2B is for member design.

While there is no commentary for section 30.11, the commentary section C30.7 seems to match this explanation.
