That's great news! Thank God and Google! Or Google and God, maybe :)

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

Of course the EV fanclub's darling has just announced they'll be using bitcoin from now on. Bitcoin uses as much electricity as quite a reasonable sized country, and 2/3 of the calculations take place in China, which largely uses coal power for electricity.

Don't buy BC. Sooner or later people will realise it has no inherent value.
Its the modern equivalent of Dutch tulip mania. You can't even use it in a $0.25 circuit board. Its just a matter of when "investor's" cocaine supply dries up.

1503-44,
Interesting you mentioned tulips. I just read a piece saying that the electricity used to generate BC is equivalent to that used by all of the Netherlands. Also that the more it grows, the more problematic it becomes for itself.

It also isn't as anonymous as most think either. As I understand it, or don't , all BC accounts have some trace back to an email account somewhere. Not that it matters much. Nothing's backing BC, except investor's collective faith and we know how reliable that isn't. At the moment its just a big snowball being pushed up a hill. If it was truely going where the inventor thought it was going, everyone would be using BC at the grocery store by now. But no, not even the grocery store accepts them.

It's expected that someone will write an app to save the planet?

I lost faith in BC after Mt. Gox.

It used to be that our currencies (i.e. US dollar and such) were linked to gold or silver or such. Nixon took us off the silver standard in the early 1970s. Therefore, our currency only has value because our government says that it has value. However, the government could immediately "de-value" the currency by "printing" more money. That would immediately result in significant inflation problem. We've seen that with some other currencies over the years (China recently).
