Hello Dear Friends,

As the title suggests i am looking for Non-Magnetic Metallic Material For 1-Core Power Cable Armouring. Generally Aluminum is preferred for it, but Al suffers from oxidation problems and corrodes in some environmental conditions. I have researched Austenitic Stainless Steel for our application, which is Non-Magnetic and AISI 316 also provides corrosion resistance.

Although under some temperature ranges it loses it Non-Magnetic Property and may behave as Paramagnetic (which causes Eddy Current and Hysteresis Loses in 1C Cables) I am trying to find documentation to support AISI 316 or Stainless Steel in General.

Can anyone recommend it from their experience? or guide me a bit.

In North America we would use ACWU-90
Armoured_Cable-Wet-Underground-90 Degree C.
This has a plastic jacket over the aluminum armour.
It is available with either copper of aluminum conductors.
A similar but more expensive cable is TECK-90
This is similar to ACWU-90 with the addition of a plastic sheath over the conductor(s) and under the armour.
An even more expensive option is PVC jacketed, copper sheathed MI, Mineral Insulated cable.
And if cost is no object. stainless steel sheathed mineral insulated cable.
Stainless steel MI is used for mission critical circuits in fire hazardous locations.
Stainless steel MI may be used for fire alarm or protection circuits in the petro-chemical industry.
Stainless steel will remain in service until the stainless steel melts.
Stainless steel will withstand almost any mechanical damage that does not puncture the stainless steel sheath.
Be sure that you are sitting down when you read the quotation. It will be expensive.

You don't say what voltage. In the US, we'd look at something like Okonite C-L-X which has an extruded aluminum sheath covered in plastic. Similar to the TECK cable used in Canada.

Lead sheathing is still available (PILC)and still used for some new installations where rodents are a problem.

I'd suggest contacting a reputable cable manufacturer and discussing your application.

Teck is the Go-To cable in Canada.
The armour is spiral wrapped, not extruded.
Handling is easier than an extruded armour.

This Okonite construction is very similar to TECK-90 except that TECK-90 armour is interlocked spiral rather than welded, corrugated armour used by Okonite.

Note that Okonite is a manufacturer's name.
They build cables similar to ACWU 90 and similar to Teck 90.
Voltages:
TECK 90 is available in 600V, 1000V, 5000V and 15000V.
Teck 90 is available in single conductor and multi conductor configurations.
Teck 90 is available in both copper and aluminum conductors.
