Hi All,

When talking about Directional Control Valves. Could anyone point me where I could get a definition of what is considered a tapping plate and what is a subplate? Is there a formal definition available or is it all inferred from what the industry provides? My observation is that tapping plates are used when directional control valves are mounted into a manifold and subplates are used when connecting the directional control valve into a mounting surface and then piping.

Apologies if this has been discussed before, new to the site and couldn't find it through search.

Subplates are also known as mounting pads, sub bases, and base plates. Subplates give valves a mounting pad, and allow for many different port styles and locations to meet the design requirements of the system. Subplates are designed to provide a means to connect a single solenoid valve to field piping either on the power unit or near the actuator. Subplates with Relief from P to T are designed to provide a means to connect a single solenoid valve to field piping either on the power unit or near the actuator. This manifold provides an integral system relief cavity to minimize piping. Our line of subplates are designed as a complete family with consistent mounting for all bottom ported, side/bottom ported, side ported & tank top designs.

Tapping Plates are sandwich adapters designed to provide a means to easily take pressure readings from the work ports. Tapping Plates are designed for the purpose of adding a gauge port or test port to the circuit.

Just for future reference there is a specific forum for hydraulics / fluid control called "fluid Power Engineering" There are some people there that specialise in fluid power controls etc of this type.

Either look in that forum or post there for any similar questions. Note, when you're in the forum the search bar at the top allows you to search in that particular forum only so you reduce the number of items which are not relevant. a search in that forum for directional control valves brought up a lot of posts.
