Flexible Moment Connection Design

Flexible Moment Connection Design

I’m looking for a good resource book with details or some examples of FMC connection design.

These would be for connections to column flanges and webs. I know how to design these connections, but I'm being tasked with something specific. The fabricator would like to re-evaluate specified FMC connections to reduce bolt diameter. I'm not the EOR, just working for the fabricator. Specifically I'm looking to re-design the top and bottom angle connection to allow for smaller bolts diameters. I typically only see the angles connected to the beam flanges with 1 or 2 rows of bolts to the beam flange. Is it acceptable, after checking the angle and prying action, to modify the connection to a bent plate with 3 rows of bolts or to completely change the connection to a welded/bolted top and bottom flange plate connection designed to resist the demand moment?

Obviously the EOR will need to be consulted to ensure the connection stiffness and lateral design assumptions are still being met with the change, just looking for feedback on if the options mentioned above are viable alternatives.
