piping dia inch calculation

piping dia inch calculation

I have to estimate dia-inch of a piping system, regarding a chemical plant.

But the client has only "material take off" from piping. ( a list containing 2" up to 24" pipe length only)

is there any table which could give me a relation between length of pipe and approximate piping dia-inch for different sizes?

RE: piping dia inch calculation

Doesn't that depend on how many bends and straight joints are on each pipe. If this is a proposal, then you should have existing piping layouts that you can use to come up with an estimate.

RE: piping dia inch calculation

thank you IRstuff, this is a proposal. the lay outs are not complete and the bid closing date is very soon!

RE: piping dia inch calculation

Do you know what dia-inch means?

RE: piping dia inch calculation

I don’t. Please enlighten me.

Good Luck,

RE: piping dia inch calculation

Could be referring to a couple of things, which is why I asked. "Dia-inch" by itself has no meaning for me either.

Usually the item of interest associated with "in_diameter" is a cost $/in_diameter. You typically see that as a graph plotting pipe cost vs. Various Pipe diameters.

It can also be associated with a quantity of welding to be done, inches of weld for joining various diameters of pipe. Also depending on the length of pipe purchased, as that affects the number of joints to be welded.

So I was asking for more context in his own words to discern more about the question.

RE: piping dia inch calculation

Good points, 1503-44.
OP to confirm the purpose of the bid proposal which the estimate of piping Dia-inch data is for.
