This is typically a matter of company policy.... but can sometimes be set by the CAD software in use Wisely, DASSAULT's "SOLIDWORKS" establishes definitions and makes policy (de facto) by the way that their software works https://help.solidworks.com/2018/en...rks/c_broken_out_section_view_detail_view.htm https://help.solidworks.com/2017/en...e a detail view,view, or another detail view. It is bad practice to add any view that is not needed to fully undertsand the subject of the drawing.
