Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows of a standard of test patterns for bit error rate testing of optical comms systems? I know there are different commonly used stress patterns for measuring BER, as BER is pattern dependent. There’s also a database of signals that can be transmitted to show compliance with ITU standards for encoding and decoding video etc.

I was just wondering if there's a standard for different patterns to test BER across an optical link. I'm looking for raw data patterns that (I guess) would be testing the PHY layer from 100 Mbits through to 1 Gbits.

Any help much appreciated,

Cheers,
Shaun
