I am designing some sheds and I would like to use aluminum siding for the shear walls.
I need a table or a method to estimate allowable shear from the siding.
Thank you

I'd expect it to be close to zero just due to fasteners plowing through the siding. Provide some form of board goods beneath the siding, or on the inside of the shed.

But I would be interested in having my assumptions proven wrong if there is published values.

How about X bracing from banding or cables anchored to framing you are attaching the aluminum siding to.

There are tables for the shear capacity of steel siding, but none for aluminum siding as far as I know.

I have hunted everywhere, the Post Frame Construction Manual has tables for steel only.
How are all these big Shed manufacturers doing it?
What is D4 siding?
Thanks everyone for your help,

Do you have an example of a "big Shed manufacturer" that is using aluminum siding?

Without any other context, I would assume D4 siding to be double 4" vinyl lap siding.

Commercial and industrial buildings are almost certainly clad in steel siding, not aluminum.
