Hydrated Lime Batching Calculation
Hydrated Lime Batching Calculation
(OP)
Hi All,
I want to design a Hydrated Lime Plant and require some info if you previously designed. Material feeding is dry hydrated lime and needs to get to a concentration of 5-20 % w/w by the addition of water. Is it possible to have continues system rather than batching system by just having screw feede + mixing tank(with agitator) + transfer pump?
How can I find batching calculation (time required) if not possible to continues operation?
Plant demand: 310 kg/hr
Solution required: 5-20 % w/w
thanks,

RE: Hydrated Lime Batching Calculation
Find a gravimetric dry chemical feeder suitable for lime that can meter out the 310kg/hr.
You will then need a stirred mixingtank (minimum 300 litres) with an automatic water feed through which you are going to feed somewhere between about 1550 and 6200 litre per hour. You will need a pump that you can accurately meter that amount to your process.

RE: Hydrated Lime Batching Calculation
Based on quantity (300kg/h) a batch process is the best choice:
2 tanks with agitation , 1 for preparation ,metering tank ( water +lime) and 1 (milk of lime) for storage and transfer to the process .
20% w/w is a lot , more a slurry than a solution.
