PCB and PCBA suppliers

hi everyone,

We are an Engineering design company working with a client who is interested in prototyping services for a product we are developing for them. we are designing the enclosure of the product and it system and he has provided us with the PCB designs of his product.

its a very complex PCB of 12 layers and multiple components assembled. we are trying to find a PCB and PCBA company for prototyping of this PCB, can you please let me know of good companies in that field with good prices for prototype PCBs. we already approached a company and got a very high quotation that we didnt expect, we want to compare with other companies.

thanks for all your support.

RE: PCB and PCBA suppliers

Where are you located? Do you have someone who is capable of babysitting it through the manufacturing process? You may need to interface with the manufacturer and client to find acceptable component substitutes etc.

Advanced PCB in the US(4pcb.com) is good, but not the cheapest out there. Getting PCBs manufactured in Asia can save some, even in small runs. Do you have limitations to where you can manufacture it?

But generally it is going to cost a good bit for small runs. Stencil and NRE costs on the PCB, and some setup costs on assembly. You can try to make it so that those costs aren't repeated when/if you go into production.

I am located in Egypt, so there are no manufacturers here in Egypt with the required technology sadly.

there are alot of suppliers in china and I am not sure which one to go with, thats why I asked here to be honest, if someone has experience with a good company in china, taiwan or even US if it offers good prices.

we are only interested in 5 sets(each product requires 3 boards), so I am definetly afraid of the tooling costs, I saw some websites that says no tooling costs, is that true? or scam?

we already received a quotation from a taiwanese supplier, he quoted me for 10,000 dollars for the 5 sets including NRE which is extremely expensive and I wasn't expecting it at all.

RE: PCB and PCBA suppliers

What are the dimensions of your PCBs? What is the trace/space? What material requirements do you have? You've already provided the layer count.

For example, a 12-layer, 5" square board with 5/5 trace/space might cost a few hundred dollars per board with a Chinese supplier. A US supplier will charge 10x that.

What types of components are going on the boards (1000-pin BGAs or 2-pin discretes, 01005- or 1210-sized SMD components, etc.)... size/quantity of components can have a large effect on assembly cost.

BGAs will require hot air soldering stations and/or reflow ovens, whereas some 1210-sized 2-pin components would be done by hand.

RE: PCB and PCBA suppliers

Hi,

Not sure if you already found a supplier?

A few that I've worked with in the past and have done good work.

* Bittele Electronics (Canada based -- excellent quality and they work very well with your team to confirm requirements and the proper build)
* uChoice (Canada based)
* PCBWAYS (Boards only for me, but others I know have used them for assembly and been very happy)
* JLCPCB (Boards only for me, but others I know have used them for assembly and been very happy)

As MacGyverS2000 mentioned there are a lot of variables that can effect cost of a circuit board, being as it's a 12-layer, not all manufacturers may have the tolerances and process for the board. Recommend getting a few quotes, but also consider the relationship with those you talk to. Do they ask questions, confirm the specifications, and review your BOM of components with you to ensure it is all available. The cheaper option is not always the more effective to support your team and needs.

RE: PCB and PCBA suppliers

Have you found a supplier? I know one. I have sold boards there before. The quality is good but a bit expensive. It is a one-stop service
