Extreme Value Theorem for Pitting Corrosion

Extreme Value Theorem for Pitting Corrosion

Extreme Value Theorem for Pitting Corrosion

(OP)
Hi Everyone,

I am trying to understand the extreme value theorem used in pitting corrosion where a limited number of UT or MFL measurements can be used to:

1) calculate the "current" extreme value based on the limited inspection data.

2) calculate the probability that in "x" years you will have perforation in the asset under consideration (tank bottom plate, piping, ... etc), and

3) get the corrosion rate using extreme value.

I have read extensively on this topic, but still could not manage to do the calcs!!!
I have read a lot of the literature available on this topic, but none gives good examples that can be followed.

I am aware that there are software that will give you the results directly, but I need to fully understand the science and do it by myself!

Any help is very much appreciated.

Regards,
Corroneer

@SJones,

Thanks for reply. I have seen this report before, it is good, but the way the case study is written is poor and does not give a step by step approach which is basically what I am after.

Corroneer
