Vacuum degassing
Vacuum degassing
(OP)
Hi, I have a seamless pipe A 106 gr.B and I need to determine if it was subjected to vacuum degassing process by steelmaker. I don't have any clues or certificates, just the pipe itself. Do you know any kind of mechanical/chemical test in order to demonstrate it? Thank you

In the end there is no definitive way to know, just professional hunch.

RE: Vacuum degassing
mmm no, because all of my suppliers don't have it and I need only a few meters (So I can't go directly to the steelmakers and ask for this small quantity...).
RE: Vacuum degassing
Why do you want/need it?

RE: Vacuum degassing
It's for an annoying pressure vessel that I'm building :/
RE: Vacuum degassing
Translation: it's for a really bad technical specification ordered by an ignorant client.
Am I right?

Find out inclusion content of the steel. ASTM E45 - 18a would come handy.
Then compare the result with standard inclusion charts to determine if the steel was vacuum degasssed.
