Wall Thickness Of Plastic Oil Tank
Wall Thickness Of Plastic Oil Tank
(OP)
We are designing an oil tank for a lube skid. And, looking for ways to cut cost, the question is "how thin of a wall can we go to before the wall starts buckling"?
The tank is 55 gallons, 18" X 18" X 43". The current wall thickness is .29". And, it's made from LDPE.

If so then the real issue becomes the tank being strong enough to tolerate oil being sloshed around in it as it being moved. Especially once it is anchored well enough to keep it in place.
Isn't there a commercially made tank near enough your size that would work? 0.250" wall is not uncommon in LDPE.
There are a bunch out there for under $200.
