Pulsation from a progressing cavity pump ?

Pulsation from a progressing cavity pump ?

Pulsation from a progressing cavity pump ?

(OP)
We have a 'vibration' problem with a progressing cavity pump or Moineau pump.

The discharge pipework (4"NB) is suffering from high vibration levels when the pump is operating at the top end of its speed range. Although the pump is driven by a variable drive and we could operate at lower speeds we obviously would not get the volume flow we need.

The manufacturer says that these pumps operate without pressure pulsations which would suggest mechanical vibration due to the rotors, however, as we don't see mechanical vibration on the pump casing we are not sure whether to believe it or not.

Can anyone help / advise on whether these pumps are really pulsation free.

RE: Pulsation from a progressing cavity pump ?

hi,

the problem must with the stator and rotor either which would have worn out . also, let me know the application of the pump , specially about the products' temperature, viscosity, solid contents (%) and size of solids if any . wat make is tat PC pump.
generally , PC pumps are ideal for pumping high viscous medium in a very gentle way with high shear resistance .

hope to hear from you soon and if i can be of any further assistance , donot hesitate to contact me .

regards,
Harish
