Hi,

I'm an electrical engineer reviewing some motor specs for the first time. In my client specs, they specify for a MV motor (transfer pump) to meet API 541. However, they're choosing motors off the shelve and the only one available is a NEMA MG-1 motor.
Now... correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding of API 541 covers both IEC and NEMA MG-1 motors. Since this motor would be installed in Canada, a NEMA MG-1 motor should be suitable. (I know, I'm kicking myself).

Right now the vendor is coming back and asking if the client will be intending to replace the motors eventually with API motors. Obviously, I'll be reviewing the specs will meet the client's needs. But aside from that is there something about NEMA MG-1 motors that may be concerning, hence why the vendors prompt the question of replacing the motors with API later in the future?
