No. Usually, maximum rafter span will be based on trying to minimize cost of the construction (including labor costs), including consideration of stock material lengths. For us, that will usually mean that rafters cut to 30'-0" length are about optimum, with spans of 28'-29' maximum. (The 30' rafters are actually 60' lengths cut in half).
