Pressure Vessel Calculation Software for VIII-1

Hello everyone!
I am currently using PV Elite 2019. I am disturbed by the fact that the 2020 software, which will have incorporated the 2019 Code VIII-1, has not been released yet. Our company was just told by Hexagon that it will be released in the "next few weeks."

Are they other software options out there besides PV Elite, Compress and DesignCalcs?

You could always design them by hand.

We use Compress to design new vessels in our office. I'm unaware of anything outside the ones you have listed.

I certainly don't want to resort to designing by hand! Have you found the customer/technical support for Compress to be satisfactory?

To be honest, I have no idea as I've never had to contact them. Most of the questions I've ever had relating to the software had more to do with finding where a specific button was and generally a quick google search could alleviate that. I've never used PV Elite and DesignCalcs so I can't compare their usability to that of Compress.

Several years back, I managed to get a complete spreadsheet set up for horizontal vessels on saddles. If all your vessels are similarly detailed that's fairly doable. It was definitely a learning experience, and does take up a considerable amount of time. If you're doing a lot of completely different vessels, then that's an approach to be avoided.
I've used DesignCalcs a fair bit. It has its own quirks and shortcomings, but I've not used the other software to say how it compares. There is definitely a learning curve with any of these, so it's desirable not to switch if you can avoid it.

We are using Compress. I've used DesignCalcs a long time ago but have no direct experience with PV Elite.

As for Compress, I have always been satisfied with their customer support. They are normally very responsive (within 24hrs). Over the years I've found a few minor bugs in their software, and really like their method of including the customer in the solution. They will tie your contact information to the support ticket, and you'll be notified when the bug has been fixed.

Oh, and I just went online, and Compress 2020 was released today for implementation of ASME VIII-1 (2019).

I just received an email for PVE, that 2020 is available. I assume that that version will host VIII-1 2019.
Take a look at Visual Vessel Design, by OhmTech. Its now part of Hexagon. Maybe useful. DesignCalcs seems handy too. So far my experience with PVE is that support isnt that great - Ive had other experiences with support desks for similar software (e.g. Bentley AutoPIPE)

In addition to the above discussion,
From you experience, which software would you recommend for Section VIII-1 calculations?
Does any of the softwares has the ability to calculate non-ciruclar vessel (app. 13)?
Does any of the software's companies offer a course regarding the use of the software?

AFAIk, Compress and PVE dont allow app 13 calculations for say non-circular nozzles (e.g. square nozzles).
PVE offers courses in both the Code and software.

CodeCalc which is included with PVE does Appendix 13 components
Not a nozzle in a shell but the vessel.
