I have specified a G60 coating for cold formed steel framing at a wastewater treatment plant. The contractor has submitted product data for material with a "CP60 coating" This designation apparently covers galvanized (G60), galvanneal (A60), galvalume (AZ50), and galfan (GF30). My spec specifically calls for a G60 coating and says "No equivalent coatings are allowed".

Are A60, AZ50, and GF30 considered to be equivalent coatings? Are these comparable in providing corrosion protection? Is this where the cold-formed industry generally heading?

Thanks for any input.

CP60 is the coating designator per AISI S200. CP60 is not necessarily G60, so you should clarify that the CP60 is really G60 if pure zinc galvanizing is really required.
