I have been using Woodworks for years now and considering investing in a new program. We are a residential design and engineering business, and use Woodworks for shearwall calcs. Looking for something new and easier to use, as well as easier to train new employees on
Thanks

I honestly don't think anything exists that is easier than the woodworks program.

Other programs exist, and depending on what code you are designing to, there are programs that will do wood shearwalls as well as steel and concrete design (Risa3d for example).

Why don't you like the woodworks program?

I've tried both RISA and woodworks and find Woodworks is easier.

My office recently switched from Strucalc to the WoodWorks software. I found strucalc was very user friendly and allowed for a quick design. I am getting used to the WoodWorks beam designer.

I have tried using the shear wall program of the WoodWorks software and I find it to not be very user friendly and overly
complicated.

For shear walls, I find it hard to beat sitting down with the NDS wind and seismic and the Simpson Strongtie product catalog and designing by hand. I would argue this would be the best method for teaching new employees. In our office, you don’t get to use software until you have proved you can design by hand.
