Multiple NICET certifications

Multiple NICET certifications

Multiple NICET certifications

(OP)
Evening all,

I currently have level 3 in fire alarm systems and level 2 in inspection and testing of water based systems. My submitted work history percentages are 70% fire alarm and 30% in testing water based systems. After a lot of consideration I would like to pursue NICET certifications in water based system layout. My problem is I don’t want to lose my 2 previous NICETS in the process. Has anyone received 3 or more certifications and able to maintain? I’ve only talked to local techs and from what I’m told NICET frowns on 3 or more, this is coming from the grapevine though. Also any recommendation on how I should balance my work history? Appreciate any and all feedback!! This just seems like a grey area for some reason.

RE: Multiple NICET certifications

I've surrendered a NICET area just because it is very difficult to remain certified in more than one area. Splitting your time up and maintaining enough CPD points is pretty tough to make unless you get to do a lot of extra education things.

Man that’s a tough bullet to bite! Took quite a bit of studying to achieve and lose.

RE: Multiple NICET certifications

I concur. I have worked very hard over the years but have come to accept that no one will be proficient in all areas of fire protection; it simply is too large a field. I have a PE for fire protection and NICET 3 in water-based layout and recognize I don't know nearly as much as I would like.

You certainly can keep up with three NICET certifications but it is a hard road to maintain that many certs.

At least in my state my Level 3 water-based layout allows me to do sprinkler inspections so letting the inspections cert go wasn't a tough choice. You may decide to keep your fire alarm and water-based layout depending on your state's licensing laws.

White Paper - Considerations for choosing a 3D printing technology
The adoption of 3D printing into major companies’ product development life cycles is a testament to the technology’s incredible benefits to consumers, designers, engineers and manufacturers. While traditional production methods have limitations in manufacturability, 3D printing provides unparalleled design freedom due to the additive method of building parts layer by layer. Download Now
