Mag Drive Pumps
Mag Drive Pumps
(OP)
Hi, I want to know about Mag Drive pumps
- I am told solid contents are not desirable in services, is there a limit ( average and approx)
- what are the limitations of Mag Drive pumps
- Any Reliability figures available
- What is the critical most failure component within Mag Drive pumps
Thanks a lot !

RE: Mag Drive Pumps
In most cases this is none. Usually any debris will be a disaster.
The biggest killer of these is over heating.
The working fluid is what cools them.
Overloading them and slipping the drive generates a lot of heat, and there is then no flow to remove it.
What are you wanting to pump?
Why have you chosen a mag drive?
They are great for specific applications but they are expensive.

RE: Mag Drive Pumps
Bitumen is the service , high temperature , 140 Deg C Mechanical seals are not available hence mag Drive
RE: Mag Drive Pumps
You may require a steam quench for the seal....
IMHO, this would be a better choice than your Mag Drive idea...

Yes, these require special seal arrangements.

Would have thought mag drive pumps would not even figure in the selection options list for this application.
