PN 10 or PN 16 butterfly valve
PN 10 or PN 16 butterfly valve
(OP)
Hi,
I am replacing a valve with a new one. the existing valve data sheet says operating pressure is around 9 and test pressure for body is 14 and for seat 10 bar. which rating should i choose for new one, PN 10 or PN 16? is there a rule or guideline for this, for choosing pressure rating ? what hapenns if i choose higher PN than what the valve requires?
Thank you

RE: PN 10 or PN 16 butterfly valve
Your existing valve data sheet or the valve itself should state the design pressure or the PN rating.
It would look like you have PN10.
higher rating costs more and the flange connections might be different.
Up to a certain size (6") it lokos like PN10 and 16 are the samne size flange but then they diverge.
