Connection between computer and monitor

Connection between computer and monitor

(OP)
Hi all, sorry about my stupid question, but I have problem with my new pc which I bought 1 day ago. My monitor is VGA-VGA (male-male), my new pc have DVI and HDMI exit only, so I want to know what type of adapter I need to buy HDMI-VGA or VGA-HDMI. I think I need to buy HDMI to VGA, because my logic is that signal is transferred from computer to monitor, but still I'm not 100 % sure. And I think that I don't have possibility to make VGA-DVI because of the type signal, or I'm wrong?

Thank you in advance.

Yes, you need an HDMI to VGA adapter. They come in a bunch of flavors, pick one.

I'd recommend just buying a modern monitor since they are dirt cheap now. You can get a nice monitor for only around 90 euros.

You are never going to have a crystal clear picture on a digital(LCD) monitor using an analog VGA signal. Now is a good time to upgrade to a larger widescreen monitor with an HDMI input.

However, if you do buy a DVI-VGA adapter or cable make sure it is the correct one for your computer. DVI has multiple flavors, DVI-A(analog), DVI-D(digital) and DVI-I.

The analog signal needed for VGA comes from the 4 pins and the flat bar on the side.

Wow JG; Hadn't really thought about the plethora of DVI out there.

But, t's not really a big issue, since the analog/digital and purely digital forms of DVI connector are not interchangeable.

A 1920*1080 digital monitor can be purchased for less than around US$70, so it's barely worth the effort to get a lower performance analog interface working.

Thank you all for your responses. I bought expensive HDMI-VGA cable model Vivanco 45493 HDMI-VGA adapter for 21 euro, and I'm very content from the quality which this adapter provide.

Best Regards,
George
