Dear Engineer,

How are you mate?
by the way if you have reference for standard clearance for Cage and plug, mate?

looking forward to hear from you.

Thanks

RE: Standard clearance for Cage and plug

To my knowledge there is no standard distance between cage and plug. As this is a type of valve often used in different processes, both regarding chemical applications, fluid properties, temperatures and applications,I suspect this is factory specified based on experience, and not freely given away.

RE: Standard clearance for Cage and plug

Hi...

There is no such a standard for the defining clearances between Cage and Plug.
Thermal expansion calculation will be used for defining the max and min clearances.

below formula is general formula. if you have max min values of Cage IDs then you can find Max. clearance as well Min. Clearance. Based on the clearances you can arrive OD of Plug.

Clearance = Cage ID * Material Expansion * (Max temperature - Min temperature)
Plug OD = Cage ID - Clearance

the link provided here is for list of materials along with the material expansions based on the temperature.
