Orifice position in plan 22

Orifice position in plan 22

Orifice position in plan 22

(OP)
We have a pump in which plan 52 + plan 22 is double seal combination is used.
In plan 22, will any of the following orifice position/s cause malfunctioning?
1. Between discharge and seal flush cooler
2. Between cooler and seal flush inlet
3. Two orifices in above-mentioned positions.

RE: Orifice position in plan 22

Most diagrams show the orifice between the discharge and seal flush cooler. I would consider moving it to position #2 if the pumped fluid is near its vapor pressure. This may help prevent flashing across the orifice.

With that said, most literature will discourage the use of plans 21/22 in favor of the plan 23.
