how to empty - out the sulfur pit

Hi
we are going to have shutdown for our sulfur plant i want to know how to empty out our sulfur pit and if you have any good procedure how shut the unit

RE: how to empty - out the sulfur pit

apart from pumping as much sulfur out of the pit as you can, shut off the main compressure, close your steam header valve, shut off the dilution water, etc.

Pit cleaning is a pretty much a manual scraping exercise not only for the sulfur but also the carsul, and other sediments.

you should have an operating manual that covers those details. if not then you can contact the original designer of your plant to get a copy.  If that is not a viable option, then contact one of the acid plant designers (your cooler supplier can help) and they'll sort one out for you.

Saw this company advertised recently and looks like they may be able to advise.  They deal with concrete repairs and specialise in sulphur pit repairs.  Structural Preservation Systems http://www.structural.net
