3-4 MW Large Scale Electrolyzer ( H2 Production)

3-4 MW Large Scale Electrolyzer ( H2 Production)

(OP)
Dear all,

I am electrical Engineer, but I am dealing with a Project in which we Need to use an Electrolyzer unit for H2 Production in Chemical Industry.

The Electrolyzer is 395 V DC and 8500 Amps DC rated. So I came up with the conclusion I Need a rectifier for converting AC to DC because my power source is AC, in Medium Voltage

I do not know to much Information about Electrolyzers electrical Connection, since it is a new Equipment for me.

Could be possible to find a suitable AC DC rectifier with only voltage and current Input data? Also, for this current and voltage Rating, which Connection is recommended? Busducts, cable?

Any help is appreciated. Please ask me if you Need any more data I can provide, I will do my best. If you have any datasheet, more technical Information about These Equipments please let me know, because I am a Little bit lost.

Thank you so much!,
Regards,

Miguel.

RE: 3-4 MW Large Scale Electrolyzer ( H2 Production)

Normally, whoever supplies the electrolyzer also supplies the rectifier or at least provides a complete specification for what is needed. There's more to it than selecting conductor sizes and types.

RE: 3-4 MW Large Scale Electrolyzer ( H2 Production)

The power supply should be part of the equipment package.
They should just tell you the required AC inputs.
They will use a transformer and rectifier to supply the DC.
The power connections are very specialized.

Thank you all for your answers, I have written to the manufacturer to provide as complete as much Information.

Thanks.

What brand is this electrolyser?

Hydrogenics, or else?
