Static Head Calculation Static Head Calculation safaruddin (Mechanical) (OP) 6 Aug 17 06:31 Dear All, I want to ask, please see attachment. 1. How to calculate the static head on pressure vessel ? 2. Why should we calculate the static head on pressure vessel ? Thank you all, i love you safaruddin http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=4c363b8a-b0a3-4575-b564-0e RE: Static Head Calculation A clark (Mechanical) 6 Aug 17 15:46 Good Morning, Because it's required by the Code. UG-22, loadings of Section VIII Div. 1 requires that static head in both the operating and test condition be accounted for. For water the factor is .433 psi per foot. RE: Static Head Calculation TomBarsh (Structural) 6 Aug 17 16:25 Also, to add to what A clark stated, the vessel does not "know" if the pressure it is subjected to arises from the "working pressure" or the static head of operating fluid. All the little bit of pressure boundary material knows is that it is subjected to a certain pressure arising from the combined effect of the static head + working pressure.
