Are there any photos showing what the top of compacted granular "A" looks like? I realize there is a grading range, so perhaps there are photos that show what the top of compacted granular "A" looks like for the middle and the extremes of the grading range.

What is the standard practice for the setting bed where the pavers are directly on top of a suspended reinforced concrete slab that forms the roof of a below-grade unheated parking garage? Would the following be standard, and if so would a filter fabric be used under the sand setting bed?

What type of sand is used? Or is this layer granular "A"?

2"± of sand setting bed?
2" minimum of 1/2" crushed stone?
protection board
bituthene waterproofing membrane
suspended structural slab

The pavers are for diveway/entrance for cars and pedestrians.

Do not use sand. It will wash out on top of concrete use crushed limestone as a base.

Granular "A"??? What is the reference for the material?

What kind of pavers? - Larger flat or "brick size" interlocking pavers.

For the latter, the sand must be finer sand meeting the ASTM requirements. For this type of pavers, the pavers are placed tight on a 1" sand base and additional sand cast over the surface before a plate vibratory compactor is run over the surface to get the sand into the small joints from stability/strength. - It is the same method for sidewalks, patios, driveways, streets or airport taxiways over a well compacted base and sub base. An edge restrain is required to prevent the pavers from moving laterally.

There are numerous applications that I have seen for commercial and institutional buildings where they wanted a continuous horizontal surface with full height glazing separating the interior from the exterior sidewalks, driveways and entrance ramps.
