Hi there, I am currently working

Hi there,

I am currently working on a calculator which assists in designing heat exchangers. I am after information where I can get approximate values for the inside and outside fouling factors of pipes made from typical materials as well as the effective inside and outside film coefficients however am struggling to find this information due to only being able to find the overall fouling factor and film coefficient rather than the values of the inside and outside coefficients and factors separately.

Could you please be of some assistance in locating such information? I have looked everywhere and unable to find it.

RE: Hi there, I am currently working

Since fouling is dependent on flow velocity, operating temperature, length of service, etc. It may be hard to get a set of reliable values. I think I recall seeing empirical calculations for determining this, but I can't put my finger on it right now. I do however have the attached table of representative fouling factors from "Fundamentals of Heat Transfer 6th edition" by Incropera and Dewitt.

RE: Hi there, I am currently working

Develope your fouling factors for your different cooling water sources: Ocean, brackish bay salt water, flowing fresh water river, freshwater lake, processed and chemically treated fresh plant water (as for a cooling tower), raw containment pond (freshwater, but with biologics and turtle and duck poop added. )

Ok then thanks guys!
