RE: pipe materials choice

ASME Section III, Division I is an option.

RE: pipe materials choice

Mr metengr, i'm using the ASME B31.3,
I found many shade of materiels such as for carbon steel; ASTM A106 Gr B, ASTM A53 Gr B or API 5L .
so my question is what are the critaria on wich i will base my choice?
Thank you for your help.

RE: pipe materials choice

Your next step is to have an analysis of the filtered water to determine corrosivity. The temperature is also important. Once this information is known, you can decide on metallic or FRP piping systems.

RE: pipe materials choice

Other plastic pipes are listed in B31.3 which may be most economical primarily depending on size, temperature and whether buried or above ground installations.

What is "Filtred" Water??

RE: pipe materials choice

Water which has been "filtered" has generally been filtered for a reason. Putting it into steel piping is going to rapidly result in a decrease in the quality of that water unless it has also been scrupulously de-oxygenated.

Plastic piping has huge advantages for handling water. Corrosion resistance is only one of them.
