NICET Certification Education Credit
NICET Certification Education Credit
(OP)
I am beginning my pursuit of NICET certification this year and am currently working on the application. My question is related to my degree and if its worth trying to get the work credit.
My degree is a non-ABET accredited engineering technology degree; Two issues arise due to this. The first is that the Work Experience FAQ webpage (http://www.nicet.org/about-us/frequently-asked-que...) states that in order to receive the education credit...
"You must apply for certification within one year of the graduation date and complete the exam, verification, and personal recommendation requirements within eighteen months of the graduation date."
I graduated 5 years ago, so this would seem to exclude the possibility of me receiving the credit.
The second issue is that the "Work History Education Credit" part of the application states that:
"If your degree is not ABET-accredited, you will be responsible for paying
any and all expenses incurred by NICET in determining its equivalency."
This is very vague and concerning for anyone wanting to have their degree evaluated.
Has anyone dealt with either of these issue before? I would appreciate any insight!
