API 6A Ball Valve testing

API 6A Ball Valve testing

I would like to know how to determine a ball valve 10k psi shell test, and seat test pressure as per API 6A. Where could i find in API 6A since it only mentioned gate valve.

RE: API 6A Ball Valve testing

Hi Miejot,

Replace the word gate for ball and follow the same sections for testing. That is the common practice for valve manufacturers producing ball valves to API 6A standard.

I have worked for numerous years for a HPHT subsea ball valve specialist and for an EPC delivering valves from alternate vendors and they all word their test documentation this way.
