Pocket Penetrometers

Hi, can you recommend manufacturers for pocket penetrometers? I am in Japan so it need to be shipped here. I am currently using a SOILTEST pocket penetrometer but want to buy a new one as it is getting old...Thanks.

RE: Pocket Penetrometers

I use the Humboldt H-4195 with the foot H-4195F for softer soils.

RE: Pocket Penetrometers

Thanks for your recommendations. I am trying to contact the Taiwan dealer as there is not a dealer for Japan...

RE: Pocket Penetrometers

Hi, do you use also the Torvane? For field shear strength readings, clients normally give the option to use pocket penetrometers or Torvanes, so just want to compare between these 2 tools.

RE: Pocket Penetrometers

I like both, but we normally just use PP.

Looks like a torvane. I guess that geovane is the name you use in NZ for torvanes? Thanks.

RE: Pocket Penetrometers

BigH, thanks for the clarification. I am not familiar with the torvane so it is good to know it.
