RE: CUI programs ?

Check the following documents.  They should help you out.

API RP 510  Pressure Vessel Inspection Code
API RP 570 Refinery Piping Inspection Code
NACE Publication, "Controlling Corrosion Under Wet Thermal Insulation"

I can also E-mail you a document that addresses some basics of CUI (Corrosion Under Insulation) inspections.

RE: CUI programs ?

Speaking from experience in Europe, we found it more efficient and cost effective to use Al foil to wrap the pipe - 50% overlap, only primer paint applied. After that you need to make sure that your contractors have all Al or S/S final wrap joints on the underside.Keep a constant eye on the insulation contractors! Seals at vessel entries are the real pain in the proverbial as a lot of them are out of ground-level inspection. As to the inspection, we used a bought-in criticality rating programme to rank the pipework, etc. Unless you do this there is no hope of achieving sensible inspection results. Most of what I have sais is well publicised in trade journals. At the end of the day it is a damage limitation exercise - not a Utopian dream! After installation, most damage is done by the use of pipework as walkways during mtce programmes.
