Multibedreactor with small diameter

Multibedreactor with small diameter

(OP)
Hi Folks,

I am currently working on a study about revamping the reactorsection of our Lubeoil-Hydrogenation plant. This means, designing a new Reactor (with multiple beds and gasquenches) for it.

When doing the calculation for the needed insidediameter of a new reactor considering having a propper massflux ( 4 kg/m2*s), I am ending up with a diameter of 900mm.

This very small diameter seems to be quite impossible for the catalystexchange-contractor to handele with. Especialy when talking about a multibedreactor where quenchboces etc have to be installed an uninstalled during the shutdowns.

So, whats the smallest Insidediameter for a Multibedreactor you did have good experiences with?
