Starter Gear Pitch

Starter Gear Pitch

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know the gear pitch and pressure angle of a late model Ford starter?

RE: Starter Gear Pitch

The starter pinion and mating ring gear used on most engines have a huge difference in tooth counts. In order to get them to mesh satisfactorily it requires a significant amount of geometry modification. The starter pinions typically have around 9-10 teeth, and the pressure angle used is low (14.5 deg or less).
