Hi,

I usually program the HMI side of a SCADA system which is usually connected to an expensive name brand PLC or other metering equipment. I'm wondering how to do the same with a cheap microcontroller like MSP430. I could use a DIGI to send the signal out to the cell network, but how do I format the data into something a Data Acquisition Server can understand? Is there a C library that will translate into OPC then send the data out?

This in between step seems to be the mystery box that I haven't quite learned yet.

The microcontroller will use a communications protocol. The messages of this protocol will have to be routed from the scada host to the controller & back. A driver will have to be procured or developed for this purpose. I can help you with this, but this cannot be done via chat. It may take 15-20 minutes on phone discussion. You may call me at 713-935-0900 in Houston, TX & will guide you.
