Modelling a foam layer around a skull

Dear all,

I have an orphan mesh of a human skull in Abaqus. What I would like to do is to create a foam and wrap it around the skull (around the forehead area). So how do I go about doing this in Abaqus? The skull has irregular geometry. Your help is truly appreciated. Thanks.

My usual response to geometry creation inside Abaqus/CAE is to do it in your CAD package instead. Since you are working with an orphan mesh this may be difficult. I assume skinning the skull with shell elements would not work for your needs. Can you post your model so I can have a look?
