PE Sealing Electrical Drawings

PE Sealing Electrical Drawings

PE Sealing Electrical Drawings

(OP)
Hi,

I work in the utility industry and my company requires that ALL electrical drawings be PE Sealed. This inlcudes conduit, physical arrangement, schematic (Elementary, One-Line, Three-Line, etc), wiring drawings, equipment specifications, and they are looking to have PLC logic also PE Sealed. Can anyone comment on their experience and industry practice concerning what is required to be sealed?

Thanks

RE: PE Sealing Electrical Drawings

Sounds political. Hope they have the money for the people to seal these drawings.

RE: PE Sealing Electrical Drawings

PLC logic?

Good luck with that.

RE: PE Sealing Electrical Drawings

Generally, you are not supposed to seal outside of your competency, so if your PEs are competent, then they can. Whether they should, or need to, is a different matter.

Of course I can. I can do anything. I can do absolutely anything. I'm an expert!

RE: PE Sealing Electrical Drawings

So far as signing off code goes, when we introduced ABS on our cars we did a full FMEA (and hence developed a DVP) on the ABS system, including the software. That's what /professional engineers/ do on safety related systems, whatever PEs might or might not do.
