I have been trying determine the advantages of HSTL (1.5 with .75V VREF)over SSTL(2.5V with 1.25V VREF). The only advantage that I see right now is reduced power. I can not confirm that HSTL switches faster than SSTL as it seems both can realize a signal change after +/- .35V from REF. It would seem that SSTL would give you a better sampling eye (noise margin) and that alone might outweight any power savings obtained. Am I correct as I thought HSTL was a faster technology but I can not find any info to show this.
