Format Challenges - Check Boxes floating when row expands & Preventing Overwriting of Title in C
Format Challenges - Check Boxes floating when row expands & Preventing Overwriting of Title in C
(OP)
The solutions are probably easy but I have not been able to find a solution to these two items.
The first item is I am unable to merge cells and continue to use "Wrap Text" with "Autofit Row Height" without a Macro. I prefer not to use a Macro.
If you look at the top of the spreadsheet, you will see a cell with JOB: in it. I would like to add text in this cell while keeping JOB: in the cell and adding text to the right of it. The easy way is to have two cells but then I would need to merge the cells below preventing "Autofit Row Height" from working which will not work with merged cells.
The second issue is when I type and the row expands in width automatically due to wrapping text and autofit row height, the two outer check boxes move while the center box stays put. I have been unable to figure how to keep the check boxes in their row.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Is a Spreadsheet really the correct tool to use?
What about...

Skip, I appreciate the tip but we are a small firm and I am trying to work with the tools we currently have. Thanks for the tip and will keep it in mind if we end up with bigger projects related to this one.

If you don't really need actionable check boxes, then just make those first three columns a bit narrow, about the width of the check box, apply formatting as bold and centered vertically and horizontally, and then put an "x" there in lieu of checking the check box. You can even write macros (VBA) to take action if those cells are checked. At least this way you don't have to worry about format messing up.
ETA: I do this sort of thing "all the time" for all sorts of tables
RE: Format Challenges - Check Boxes floating when row expands & Preventing Overwriting of Title in C
You are forcing the data above the table to have column congruency with the data in the table.
You can solve this by using the CAMERA feature of Excel. Add the icon for this feature by 1) Right-Click in your Quick Access Toolbar and select customize. (Doing this from memory in Dr's office) 2) select the dropdown for All features. 3) scroll to CAMERA 4) ADD to your QAT.
On a separate sheet, design the JOB: table the way you would do it if you didn't need to consider the table columns. You really ought not enter data in the same cell as the HEADING:. Once done select ALL the data, and name this reference something like pLegend. click the CAMERA icon and select anywhere on the sheet. This places a PICTURE() expression on the sheet. The expression should reference your range name. COPY the picture and PASTE it into your form. Position as needed.
