HP diode array spectrometer
HP diode array spectrometer
(OP)
Hi
I have in my chemistry lab an old diode array spectrometer from HP model 8453.
The instrument was run by windows 95
this windows 95 is now obsolete and I can't find a PC using this windows version anymore.
How can I make this instrument to run on new windows versions?

2) figure out if it uses HPIB if so read the manual and buy or write your own interface (easy)
3)pay someone to develop new drivers

RE: HP diode array spectrometer
It's been years since I've used it, but it worked very well back around 2001-2002 for moving old cheap Windows 95/98/ME programs under XP. My success rate was nearly 100%.
It's not likely to work for drivers.
You might have to settle for XP, not Windows 8.

RE: HP diode array spectrometer
The HP 8453 diode array spectrometer, which I wrote about earlier, is attached to PC by interface board (GPIB)
This board is fixed on a slot of the type ISA+ which was found in older versions of PC's like Pentium 2 and 3
now I can't find such PC's even in garbage.
can I fix the GPIB board in an external interface box with a USB connection?
