Hello,

I am trying to find information on how to estimate the unbalanced load from a mass imbalance in a piece of rotating equipment that sits on an elevation foundation. Excessive vibrations can be observed in the foundation element and we are investigating the possibility that the vibrations could be a result of a mass imbalance from the equipment resting on the foundation.

Does anyone have any insight into possibly estimating mass imbalance as a % weight of the rotating equipment?

Also, does anyone have any design examples of supporting rotating equipment on an elevated steel deck?

Any insight would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

Check out ACI 351.3R-10. It should have the information you are looking for.
