HI THERE.

THIS ERROR: '616 AL EIL ERROR', WAS DISPLAYED BY THE MTU SMART CONNECT COMMUNICATIONS MODULE OF AN MTU DIESEL ENGINE.

THE EIL ACRONISM MEANS: 'ELECTRONIC/ENGINE IDENTIFICATION LABEL' AND, IN THIS CASE, IT IS SHOWING UP IN THE DISPLAY BECAUSE THE ORIGINAL (OR FROM FACTORY) ECU (ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT)WAS DAMAGED BY A SHORT CIRCUIT AND IS BEING REPLACED BY AN ECU FROM ANOTHER ENGINE, AND THE SOFTWARE IS DETECTING THIS CHANGE. I READ THAT THE EIL CONTAINS A DATA RECORD WITH THE MODEL AND SERIAL NUMBER OF THE COMPONENTS (ENGINE AND ECU) AND OTHER DATA.

I WOULD LIKE TO ASK IN THIS FORUM IF ANYBODY KNOWS:

1) WHAT IS (OR COULD BE) THE CONTENT OF THE DATA RECORD IN THE EIL?
2) WHAT DATA IS BEING VALIDATED?
3) WHAT SOFTWARE COULD BE USED TO RE-PROGRAM THE EIL?
